Monster Ball
Divide the class into two teams and position them on opposite sides of the gym. Place a large exercise ball—the “monster ball”—in the center of the gym. If your gym doesn’t have a center circle or square, mark one using cones or floor tape. Give each player two soft, foam balls. Use the foam balls to push the monster ball into the opposing team’s side. Players may not enter the center circle/square. Players may not touch the monster ball directly. Movement of the monster ball is only by throwing foam balls at it. A point is scored for the opposing team each time the monster ball crosses the boundary line.
Hoop Shoot Dodgeball
Hoop Shoot Dodgeball is played using standard dodgeball rules with a center line and designated jail areas for each team. In addition to eliminating opponents by hitting them with a thrown dodgeball, players may choose to shoot their dodgeball at the opposing team’s basketball hoop. All hoop shots must be taken from the shooter’s own side of the court, and players may not cross the center line to shoot. If a player successfully makes a basket, it results in a team “jail-break,” and all teammates currently in jail are immediately released and return to the game. Missed shots remain live balls. The game ends when one team has all of its players eliminated and in jail at the same time, or when the teacher signals the end of play due to time.
